Signal labels explained

Bullish BreakoutPrice has broken above the 20-day high — a bullish breakout signal in the Donchian system. Systematic trend-followers treat this as a high-conviction long entry.
Testing Upper BandPrice is testing the upper Donchian band. A close above confirms a breakout; rejection here could signal near-term resistance.
Bullish TrendPrice is trading between the midline and the upper band — an uptrend continuation posture. The path of least resistance is higher.
Neutral / CompressionPrice is near the Donchian midline — a compression and indecision zone. No clear directional edge; systematic traders typically stand aside.
Bearish TrendPrice is between the midline and the lower band — a downtrend continuation posture. Selling pressure is dominant.
Testing Lower BandPrice is testing the lower Donchian band. A close below confirms a breakdown; a bounce here could signal near-term support.
Bearish BreakdownPrice has broken below the 20-day low — a bearish breakdown signal. The Donchian system treats this as a high-conviction short / exit signal.

What is a Donchian Channel?

A Donchian Channel plots the highest high and lowest low over a rolling lookback window — here, 20 days. The upper band is the highest daily close in the last 20 sessions; the lower band is the lowest; the midline is their average. When price breaks above the upper band it signals a new short-term high has been set — a classic trend-following entry trigger. When price breaks below the lower band the opposite is true.

Liquid State uses the Donchian(20) channel as one of the four signals that compose the Systematic Market Barometer. Trend-following strategies built on Donchian breakouts have been documented in the original Turtle Trading experiments — and remain one of the cleanest mechanical signals in crypto due to the asset class's momentum-driven price action.
