What is Bitcoin network hashrate?
Bitcoin network hashrate is the combined computational power all miners are pointing at the network at a given moment, measured in hashes per second (typically quoted in exahashes per second, or EH/s, for the Bitcoin network as a whole). A higher hashrate means more computing power is competing to find blocks, which raises the cost and difficulty of attacking or reorganizing the chain. Hashrate describes current network security and miner participation — it does not describe price direction.
What is hashprice and why does it matter for miners?
Hashprice is the estimated daily revenue a miner earns per unit of hashing power, expressed in dollars per petahash per second per day ($/PH/s/day). It is derived from the block subsidy, the number of blocks mined per day, the current BTC price, and the total network hashrate, so it falls either when Bitcoin's price drops or when more hashrate joins the network and dilutes each miner's share of block rewards. A falling hashprice squeezes mining economics and has historically coincided with periods of miner capitulation, though it is a description of current mining conditions, not a forecast of price.
Does a rising or falling hashrate predict Bitcoin's price?
Hashrate and price are related but hashrate is a lagging, not leading, signal — miners typically add or remove equipment in response to price and profitability changes that already happened, not in anticipation of future ones, and hashrate can keep climbing for months after a local price top or keep falling after a bottom is already in. A hashrate chart is useful for gauging network security and miner health over time; it is not a predictive trading signal and should not be read as one.

Methodology: Hashrate history from mempool.space (weekly averages). Hashprice = (144 blocks/day × 3.125 BTC block subsidy × BTC price) ÷ (hashrate EH/s × 1,000,000) expressed in $/PH/s/day.
